My Journey of English speaking from shy to confident

When I Spoke English, People Gave Me Respect

Hello! My name is Fatima, and I’m a student of Class 11. I’m just like you — a student, a learner, and someone who once felt afraid to speak English.

I always wanted to speak English fluently. Why? Because in school, college, and society — when someone speaks English, people automatically think,

“Wow, this person is educated!”
They start showing respect and think you're intelligent  even if you’re not perfect.

 I Was a Beginner Too.

I know how it feels, because I was also a beginner. I faced all the same problems you’re facing right now.

In the beginning, I used to think:

First, I must learn a lot of grammar, then memorize tons of vocabulary, and then maybe… I’ll be ready to speak.

But that thinking made everything feel huge and heavy. I started procrastinating. I delayed my speaking journey again and again because I thought:

This is too hard… maybe I’ll start tomorrow.”

The Problem: Thinking in My Native Language
Even when I finally tried to speak, I always thought in my native language first, then tried to translate it into English. That made me slow, confused, and scared of mistakes.

The fear of being wrong kept me quiet.
And most teachers or professionals don’t understand that  because they teach from their advanced level, not from a beginner’s heart.
But I do. Because I’ve been there.

I’m Here as Your Younger Mentor.

I started speaking English in just 2 months — not perfectly, but confidently. I watched many YouTube videos, but most of them were just made for views. They didn’t really help.

Then I thought:

Why we speak our own language with perfect grammar? Because we learn it from our environment.

So I gave myself an English environment.
I started watching short English conversations, listening to natural phrases, and surrounding myself with simple English.

That was the moment everything started to change.

But What If You Don’t Understand Native Speakers?

You’re right. American and British people speak fast. I couldn’t understand them either in the beginning. But I learned something important:

i. Don’t try to translate every word.

ii. Just try to understand the usage.

iii. Focus on style, tone, and rhythm.

iv. Don’t panic if you miss some words keep listening. It gets better.

You Can Do This I Believe in You.

I truly understand your feelings. No one understands a beginner like another beginner.

That’s why I started this blog  not as a teacher, but as a friend, a guide.

Together, we’ll grow step by step.

So let’s begin, from today:

"Don’t wait to be perfect.

Start now and become better as you go.”

Let’s start our journey of English  and boost our confidence together!
